TarraWarra Estate is a 400 hectare cattle grazing property, vineyard and bushland reserve on the banks of Victoria’s mighty Yarra River. The Estate has been owned by the Besen Family since 1979 with the vineyard established in 1983.
With over 30 years of history and heritage, TarraWarra Estate Pinot Noir represent the vision of Marc and Eva Besen. At the time the original plantings of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir at TarraWarra Estate, represented some of the largest in the region compared to smaller Yarra Valley wineries such as Mount Mary and Yeringberg. TarraWarra Estate produces 100% of its wines from its 70 acre Estate.
The Besens were making at statement – TarraWarra Estate firmly believed the Yarra Valley was the ideal region to produce cool climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In 2003 the Alan Powell designed TarraWarra Estate Restaurant and cellar door opened. Adjacent stands the independently run TarraWarra Musuem of Art, a donation of Australian art work and the building by Marc and Eva Besen.
In 2015 construction began on The Wine Tunnel, which will be home to the new TarraWarra Estate Cellar Door. The final piece in Marc and Eva Besens vision.
