Chardonnay Avenue is go thanks to Building Better Regions funding

Wine Yarra Valley will deliver a signature event for the region after receiving funding from the federal government under the Building Better Regions program, which supports the creation of jobs, driving economic growth and building stronger regional communities into the future.

The grant will support the delivery of the Chardonnay Avenue festival, to be launched next Autumn, over the next three years. The main aim of the festival is to celebrate the region’s makers and producers, while helping the region recover from the toll of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Whilst the Yarra Valley has previously welcomed the most international visitors to any Australian wine region, and the fourth most domestic visitors, the many small local businesses that rely on that visitation and direct sales through their cellar doors, restaurants and experiences have been hit particularly hard over the last 18 months.

The festival champions the main white variety of the region, renowned globally for producing world-class examples exhibiting great complexity, balance and finesse.
The main event will create a block party atmosphere, utilising the Lilydale Road restaurant precinct and surrounding lane ways in Healesville, to showcase local wine, food, drinks and artists and support our local community and businesses in the hospitality, tourism and retail industries.
