Boutique & Hidden Gems Wine Trail

Explore the Boutique & Hidden Gems Wine Trail in the Yarra Valley

Small Family Wineries, Micro-Producers and Owner–Winemaker Experiences

Scattered across the Yarra Valley are a collection of truly boutique wineries — small family operations, micro-producers and owner–winemaker cellar doors where the experience is intimate, unhurried and deeply personal.

These wineries tend to operate at a scale where the winemaker may also pour your tasting, talk you through the vintage, or share the story behind the vineyard. No large crowds, no production-line tasting bars — just genuine hospitality and handcrafted wines that reflect the people behind them.

For visitors seeking a quieter, more authentic side of the Yarra Valley, this trail offers a curated list of producers worth discovering. Ideal for seasoned wine travellers, curious explorers, and anyone wanting to slow down and savour personality-driven wines.

On the trail:

Butterman’s Track Wines, Giammarino Wines, Jayden Ong Winery, Kellybrook Winery, Luke Lambert Wines, Maddens Rise, Nillumbik Estate, Wedgetail Estate, Paynes Rise, Pimpernel Vineyards, Shaws Road Winery, Sir Paz Estate, Squitchy Lane, Sutherland Estate.

Trail Highlights

The boutique and hidden gems trail is more than a “start here, end here” itinerary.

These wineries are dispersed across the valley and are best visited by choosing two to four per day based on where you’re staying and how much time you like to linger.

Expect relaxed conversations, minimal intervention winemaking, stories of family heritage, and cellar doors with genuine character.
